Cool tech and cool drinks: Celebrating a BOMbastic milestone
Weiterstadt, Germany, August 2024 – Ever wondered what it feels like to finally freeze a Bill of Materials (BOM) after months of relentless work? For us at Wingcopter, it’s not just about locking down a list of all the 1,150 parts required to manufacture the Wingcopter 198. It’s about capturing the essence of our innovation and the culmination of our shared efforts. Last week, we reached this critical milestone for the Wingcopter that is going through the FAA type certification process. This also represents the final completion of this version’s design.
It now stands tall as the pinnacle of our expertise, proven in countless iterations and rigorous testing with over 4,000 flight hours. It’s the embodiment of our commitment to excellence, designed meticulously to meet aerospace standards, and it’s now ready to soar into the certification process.
But this BOM is more than just a document; it’s a testament to the incredible journey we’ve been on. From initial feasibility studies to a design robust enough for certification, every part, every sequence tells a story of perseverance, creativity, and teamwork.
To celebrate this tremendous achievement, we took a well-deserved break under the clear blue skies, with temperatures hitting a perfect 30°C. The Wingcopter team gathered around the literally frozen BOM for some ice cream and toasted with our special “BOM-on-the-rocks” – a Berry-Orange-Maracuja special that was as refreshing as our success.
This event was more than just a celebration. It was a moment to pause and reflect on the dedication, tireless efforts, and collaborative spirit that brought us here. A moment to say a huge THANK YOU to every team member who contributed to this milestone, whether directly or in a supporting role.
